Hello Everyone,
I had been putting the final touches to a short blog post (shortake), titled Lasts and Forever’s. However, an event last night altered my priorities a bit.
I awoke around 1:30 AM, thoughts of the upcoming midterm elections racing around in my head. I wasn’t panicking, but deep concerns of “unpreparedness” took control and I began responding by creating a blog post featuring A Call to Action. Yeah, that will go well. I know from past experiences that most of the points I attempt to make in the middle of the night, mostly unconscious vanish in the morning. Hold off, hold off. I did the best I could.
One clear recall from that night was the uneasy realization, at least in my mind, that no one seems to be doing anything. Excepting of course the powers that be and those that oppose them on our behalf. But most of the action is taking place behind closed doors in faraway places. So, I felt the need to speak up. Inaction on my part, regardless of knowledge, experience, or ability, is not an option. Consequently, I offer up my thoughts if for no other reason than to clear my conscience and feel as though I did not sit idly by while our democracy is under threat.
TJ
I apologize in advance for any “issues” that may arise from this somewhat hurried production, including emotional outbursts.
All Americans should be concerned about the systematic overreach of the Trump Administration. Institutional pressure that amounts to an ongoing assault on our constitution, the separation of powers it demands and our very democracy. Trump, in concert with his advisors and cabinet leaders, has taken actions that weaken free elections, independent courts, a free press, political neutrality of law enforcement, and the ability to oppose the government without retaliation. There is a substantial list involving the second Trump administration.
While there are hundreds of instances of illegal, unethical or outright criminal behavior by many within the Trump administration ranging from insider stock trading to no-bid contracts and possibly murder on the part of ICE agents lets limit our focus for now. For me this is a challenge. Although, we are all aware of the moves on the part of the Trump administration to consolidate power exclusively within the Oval Office the totality of their actions over the past few years, when gathered in one place is overwhelming. Also a timely reminder that must act.
C’mon TJ you’re over reacting. Presidents have always pushed executive authority; presidents pardon controversial people; administrations fight with the press; DOJ investigates politicians.
Perhaps, but this administrations combination of assault tactics is staggering. Let’s do the math-
control elections + weaken watchdogs + intimidate lawyers + punish hostile media + pressure universities and speakers + politicize law enforcement + diminish independent agencies + challenge Congress’s spending power + test judicial authority = Nazi Germany Dictatorship Not the Executive Branch Americans want.
Those institutions are precisely the restraints that prevent an elected president from turning electoral victory into unrestrained personal power. The danger lies not in one executive order or one court battle, but in a sustained effort to weaken many of the independent institutions that make democratic government possible.
The last straw for me…
What really disturbs me is the administration’s most recent attempts to interfere with the upcoming midterm elections. They are positioning themselves to affect the outcomes of both Mail-In ballots and In-person voting.
A. Mail-in-Ballots– Under the administration’s new rule, states would have to provide USPS with a Mail-In and Absentee Participation List identifying each person receiving a federal mail ballot, including the person’s name, address and unique Intelligent Mail barcode numbers assigned to the outgoing and return ballot envelopes. The proposed USPS changes the Postal Service from essentially the carrier of election mail into a potential gatekeeper determining whether state-issued ballot mail may enter the mail system. What? Since when is the antiquated, bankrupt postal system allowed to have such power? Breathe TJ, Breathe.
The Constitution is clear- it gives the primary responsibility for conducting federal elections to the states, subject to rules Congress may enact. It does not ordinarily give the president authority to establish election procedures himself. Yet Trump and the DOJ, despite losing all 23 District Court cases refuse to retreat from their sweeping voter roll campaign- forcing states to provide their full-statewide voter registration data bases.
B. In-Person Voting– Trump has a documented history of interfering in elections that go badly for him or the Republican Party. In short…Election Denial. After the 2020 elections Trump and his allies filed dozens of challenges including demanding recounts in Georgia and Wisconsin. All failed to change the outcome. He pressured the Georgia Secretary of State to “find” 11,780 votes to give Trump the win there. Trump repeatedly pushed the DOJ to declare the election corrupt even after they told him they had not found fraud remotely sufficient to change the election. Trump proposed seizing voting machines in order to change the results of his election loss but the DOJ resisted. That was then. Now, the Justice Department is doing some things the first-term department resisted. There has now been an actual federal seizure of ballots and election records. Hundreds of boxes containing 2020 ballots and other election records were confiscated from Fulton County, Georgia. Federal agencies have sought voter information, election records and access to voting equipment in multiple states.
These are the reasons I awoke at 1:30 am the other day. The clock is ticking- We are only 60 days away (November 3, 2026) as of this writing from the mid-term elections. What if the Supreme Court ultimately allows Trump’s election power grab? Is there a plan? What’s our plan? Well as far as I know there isn’t one. So, let me suggest the following:
It is time for action. Standing up to bullies that threaten our freedom as our fathers and mothers did not that long ago. They dropped everything, put their lives on hold and sacrificed up to and including their lives for freedom and the American way of life. It is our turn to organize, mobilize, and take to the streets in order to defend our democracy. Beginning with one of its most important components- The right to vote in free and fair elections. Make no mistake about it; if the mid-terms appear unfavorable to the Trump administration they will throw the elections into a state of chaos.
Without hesitation I propose the creation of a CITIZEN’S MILITIA. Yes Militia. (I have just been told that this term conjures up weapons and the use of force. That I should eliminate it. Ok, I will but I reserve the right to bring it back if the unimaginable happens.) Let’s go with- The Citizens Election Protection Team. It does have a nice ring to it.
Working in concert with the NO KINGS organization we could potentially mobilize over 7 million Americans. All seasoned veterans of the 3 nationwide No Kings protests. But given there are approximately 88,000 polling stations that accept in person voting. That’s only 80 per poll. Not the massive force I hoped for but it is what it is. Or, is it?
The DOJ (Dept. of Justice) announced 3 weeks ago it would be sending a record number of 1000 election monitors for the mid-term elections across the country to provide what they call “election security”. One thousand monitors to cover 88,000 polling places. That’s over 80 locations per monitor. Seems they have a worse problem then we do.
Here’s the reality. The 1000 DOJ monitors are not intended to provide nationwide polling coverage. They will target jurisdictions they claim, with language-access issues, disability-access problems, alleged voting irregularities or fraud concerns. This is code for Democratic strongholds or wherever it looks like Republican candidates are in trouble. In the 2024 presidential election, the DOJ monitored 86 jurisdictions in 27 states, not 88,000 individual polling places. In the 2022 midterms it targeted 64 jurisdictions in 24 states. Things are now looking more manageable. Now we can focus our energy on the same priority locations as the DOJ. That means we can send somewhere between 80,000 and 290,000 Citizens Election Protection Team members depending upon the moves of the DOJ.
By the way, I am not suggesting we show up at polling places armed and ready for a fight with the Proud Boys or others that are there to intimidate voters. That would defeat the purpose. That would for sure drive voters away. Our team would not block, surround, interrogate, follow or argue with someone they believe is interfering with voting. We notify election officials or we call the cops. Given our numbers there should be plenty of cops around. Okay, get serious. We don’t need tens of thousands of us at each polling place. We do need a sizeable presence, however, and well determine that number after we get the NO KINGS people onboard.
I am also not suggesting that 200,000 protesters show up at one polling place. We can gain a lot more traction by other means. Here is my list of Potential Targets for the 7 million of us willing to send a clear message to this administration:
I hastily put together a tentative calendar of events. It is based on getting started on October 1st. Click on Election-Protection Calendar below for a look. There is a lot do in the meantime.
October 1–November 3, 2026: Election Protection Calendar
Date | Proposed event | Purpose |
Thu. Oct. 1 | National Election Protection Kickoff | Announce principles: peaceful participation, no voter intimidation, lawful election administration, accurate voter rolls, and respect for certified results. Public sessions explaining voter rights, electioneering-distance rules, observer laws, photography restrictions, and how to report problems. |
Sat. Oct. 3 | Know Your Rights Day | Public sessions explaining voter rights, electioneering-distance rules, observer laws, photography restrictions, and how to report problems. On line and at willing participant’s offices. |
Tue. Oct. 6 | USPS Offices-Protests | Targeting the largest, higher profile facilities across the country. |
Thu. Oct. 8 | District Courts | Protests at all 94 Federal District Courts |
Sat. Oct. 10 | National Observer Training Weekend | Train volunteers in what they may—and may not—do around polling places, counting centers, and election offices. |
Mon. Oct. 12 | DOJ Headquarters-DC | Hopefully, hundreds of thousands will attend. |
Wed. Oct. 14 | State capitols and state election headquarters | Attorneys and election administrators explain challenges, recounts, ballot handling, certification, and federal/state authority. |
Sat. Oct. 17 | Washington’s Lafayette Square/White House | Hopefully, hundreds of thousands will attend. Add the US Capitol to the list. |
Mon. Oct. 19- Nov.2 | Ongoing Protests | At all targeted locations to the best of our ability. |
Tue. Nov. 3 — ELECTION DAY | Election Protection Day | Trained observers where legally permitted; voter-assistance teams; peaceful civic gatherings kept safely away from polling entrances and ballot transportation routes. |
Oh, I nearly forgot. If they continue to insist on getting involved in our elections, then let’s organize a boycott of the USPS. They no longer receive US Tax dollars and are heavily dependent on revenue from the sale of stamps, shipping etc.
I will do everything I can to make my proposals a reality. I am contacting the NO KINGS organization as we speak. I am also reaching out to all media outlets including social, podcasters, bloggers and more. I am but one man and my resources are limited so I need your help.
IMPORTANT
I ask that you pass this on to anyone you know that may be willing to get involved. Ideally those with national connections, and the financial ability to make my proposal or something like it a reality.
Keep the faith Comrades.

BREAKING NEWS– This just in from the New York Times
Trump Administration Begins Blitz to Find Elusive Voter Fraud Ahead of Midterms
Election fraud is exceedingly rare, but President Trump has fixated on rooting it out this year, claiming without evidence that tens of thousands of noncitizens are registered to vote. Hundreds of federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security have been assigned to an intensive, weekslong hunt for noncitizens among the nation’s registered voters despite an absence of evidence of widespread fraud, according to documents and training videos reviewed by The New York Times.
Agents are scouring voter rolls managed by the states, and are using personally identifiable information about individual voters, such as their dates of birth and partial Social Security numbers, to look them up on those rolls, according to the documents.
In some cases, investigators are effectively posing as individual voters by plugging their names and personal information into public-facing websites run by the top election official in each state. Some of these sites declare they are meant for individual use, potentially raising privacy concerns.
The extraordinary operation reveals the extent to which the Trump administration is searching for evidence of fraud ahead of the November elections.
